Ask Cheryl – Facial Fillers

Q:  I have deep lines from my nose to my mouth that make me look old and tired; how do I get rid of them?

A: Those deep grooves are called nasolabial folds and can be corrected with dermal fillers.  Facial fillers are generic term for a non-surgical procedure to fill-in and plump up lines in the face.

Most facial fillers are made from hyaluronic acid; a clear pliable gel that is found naturally in the body.  Brand names include Restylane, Juvederm, Perlane and Belotero.  Fillers are injected directly into facial lines and wrinkles to replace volume lost through the aging process.

The results are immediate:  a more youthful appearance with no downtime, no anesthesia, and no surgery.  These treatments aren’t permanent, but the results can be expected to last 6 to 24 months.
