ASK CHERYL: Does Laser Hair Removal Work for Everyone?

Q.   A friend of mine has had laser hair removal and loved it. Does it work for everybody?

A.

Laser hair removal works extremely well for
everybody as long as tCheryl Clarksonhe hair you would like removed is medium or dark in color. It is not a good treatment for blonde or gray hair.

Laser hair removal permanently removes unwanted hair and eliminates the need for shaving or waxing by using light energy to permanently disable the hair follicle. The laser energy selectively targets hair follicles while leaving other tissue untouched. Since hair grows in cycles, several treatments are required, usually a month apart.

For women, laser hair removal is rapidly becoming the treatment of choice for underarms, facial hair and bikini lines. Men love the treatment to reduce or remove hair on their chest and back. See patient video on laser hair removal. To learn more watch Laser Hair Removal Video

Many people decide to have laser hair removal in the spring in preparation for warmer weather when we go bare -legged and wear more revealing clothes.

ASK CHERYL: WHEN SHOULD YOU START GETTING BOTOX? ~ Lisa H.

Well Lisa, there is no rush, but it's nice to know Botox
it's available when you need it.  We are lucky to have Botox and similar products available to us; previous generations did not have the options we have.

Botox is used to eliminate "dynamic" lines that come from years of frowning, squinting and using facial muscles.  For some people, the first lines to appear are the frown lines between the eyebrows.  In other people, it's forehead wrinkles.  And for others it's crows feet around the eyes. In most people, these lines start to appear in the early - to - mid-thirties, which is when many people start to get Botox treatments.

It's becoming more common for people in their late-twenties to get Botox injections to prevent these lines from forming in the first place.

My personal opinion is there is no rush and you should wait until lines or wrinkles start to form and become a source of concern to you.

ASK CHERYL: HOW DO EYELASH EXTENSIONS WORK? ~ Blake P.

Blake, what a very timely question for this
time of year! Eyelash extensionseyelash extensions make you look marvelous for holiday parties and special occasions without spending hours and hours preparing. These are not the old-fashioned false eyelashes I'm talking about, but totally natural- looking eyelash extensions that give you long, thick beautiful lashes and last for weeks and weeks. No more mascara, no smudges, no "raccoon eyes". You can sleep, shower and party and your lashes still look totally natural 24/7.

Lash extensions are customized for your own individual look. A wide-ranging palette of colors, textures and sizes can be combined -- from subtle and natural to trendy and glamorous. Each individual lash is dipped in a medical-grade bonding agent and applied to a natural individual lash. And the end result is thicker, longer, naturally abundant lashes that will last 5-6 weeks and months longer with regular touch-ups. Your signature "bling for the blink"!!

For women who prefer a natural enhancement of their own eyelashes, the FDA has approved a treatment called Latissse®, to generate longer, thicker and darker lashes. The prescription product is applied by yourself at home by applying it to your lash line t bedtime. It works gradually and remarkably - with initial results at 4 to 8 weeks and with full results after 16 weeks. It can also be used to enhance eyebrows.

Your ophthalmologist, dermatologist or plastic surgeon can give you a prescription for Latisse. One prescription box of Latisse lasts about two months.
