Ask Cheryl: Bags Under Eyes

Q: I have puffy skin and bags under my eyes that make me look much older than I am

A: This is a very common concern for men and women.  Bags under the eyes are caused by fatty deposits and is a hereditary condition; you can not dient this fat away.  These under eye bags can be removed through a cosmetic surgical procedure called blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery.

This one-hour procedure is performed under local anesthesia, there is minimal discomfort, and the recovery time is 7 to 10 days.   During this time you will feel fine and can drive, shop and maintain normal activities.  However, you will initially want to wear dark glasses outside of the house because there be some swelling and bruising and around the eyes for a few days.

After the surgery, you will look natural and will look like yourself, but more alert and refreshed.  I would invite you to come in to SkinHealth for a free consultation with Dr. Daniel Townsend, an ophthalmic plastic surgeon who has successfully performed over 12,000 of these procedures.
