What is Coolsculpting?

Through a process called cryolipolysis, CoolSculpting is a completely non-invasive fat reduction procedure that improves the treatment area by freezing fat cells, essentially killing and breaking them down in the process, achieving a much more toned physique in as little as a single session.

No needles, no special diets, no supplements, no plastic surgery, no downtime. Sounds too good to be true; well, it isn’t! The original CoolSculpting system was approved by the FDA in 2010, and it has quickly become one of the most popular ways to eliminate fat without surgery or downtime. This weight loss procedure uses freezing temperatures to break down fatty cells for good. These specific fat cells are more affected by cold temperatures than other cells, which means the cold dosage used does not damage other cells around the fat, such as the skin or underlying tissue.

During CoolSculpting in Boston or Wellesley, our skilled technician will vacuum the skin above the area of fatty tissue into an applicator tool that cools the fat cells. This cold temperature numbs the site, effectively freezing the stubborn fat. After one simple 30-minute session from SkinHealth Centers, our patients can resume their daily routine while fatty cells gradually process out of their bodies. CoolSculpting is approved to reduce fat in most parts of the body and can treat everything from chin to upper arms or flanks, to abdomen to inner and outer thighs.

Who are the best candidates for Coolsculpting?

A good candidate for Coolsculpting in Massachusetts is a person with realistic expectations about Coolsculpting. We also ask that our patients understand this highly effective procedure is not a weight loss technique and more so body contouring. The ideal patient should be within 10 to 15 pounds of their ideal weight, with pockets of fat or a specific area of concern that is resistant despite a healthy diet and exercise.

While traditional CoolSculpting can help you with a double chin, you may want to consider Kybella for better results.

What to expect on the day of Coolsculpting

When you come in on the day of your non-surgical CoolSculpting, we will prioritize comfort and assurance. Your experience will vary depending on the level of sculpting you require.

When you’re ready, your treatment begins with your technician will use the CoolSculpting device to apply a cryogenic applicator to your target areas. This initial feeling is said to cause minor discomfort, as you feel a deep cooling sensation. Once the applicator drops below freezing temperatures, the area becomes numb, keeping the fatty cells at the necessary temperature to disjoin from their connective tissue, fully absorbing the cold.

This process causes these areas of dead cells to lose their cellular integrity and rupture. After treatment time the applicator is detached, our technician will do a brief massage on the treatment area, to break up the treated areas of fat cells and enhance the fat reduction.

Coolsculpting Recovery

CoolSculpting is completely non-surgical, so typically, you can return to normal activities immediately.
Some patients experience redness, minor bruising, tingling, numbness, or discomfort in the treated area, but this is temporary and will resolve completely. Often, our patients return to work after the session is over. In the following weeks after treatment, the body dispels the targeted fat through the lymphatic system and out of the body, resulting in the contour you’ve been dreaming of.

Most of our patients in Boston see changes as quickly as three weeks after the initial treatment. More dramatic results start to occur after one to three months. It’s important to remember that your body is still flushing fat cells post-procedure and will continue doing so for up to four to six months after treatment.
