Introduction to

Every 28 days, something incredible happens to your body, in fact, it happens so slowly that most people are completely unaware it is happening. You go through a regenerative process called skin cell renewal, which is why there are periods when our skin is glowing and radiant, and other times when we look dull and uninspired. While this is a necessary process our skin must go through, you can have a little more control over how your skin looks. At SkinHealth Centers, we strive to deliver stunning results to our Boston patients with Microdermabrasion!

microdermabrasion-1 Dermal Fillers

What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive, advanced clinical skin rejuvenation treatment designed to help reverse the signs of aging and the damage of past sun exposure by gently removing the top layers of dead cells and stimulating cell growth in the underlying dermis. This action helps give your skin a smoother, fresher appearance. It is also used to diminish the appearance of sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores, and coarse-textured skin. This exciting skin rejuvenation treatment can:

  • Improve the appearance of sun-damaged skin and brown age spots
  • Improve your skin’s tone and texture
  • Reduce fine lines and age spots, eliminate dry or flaky skin
  • Treat adult acne and oily skin

If you are bothered by any of these conditions or your skin seems to have lost its healthy, youthful glow, then microdermabrasion can help you. Thousands of microdermabrasion treatments have been performed at SkinHealth Centers as part of an exclusive SkinHealth treatment protocol and the results have been outstanding.

What are the benefits of Microdermabrasion

Our Boston Microdermabrasion patients have been able to benefit from their treatment in the following ways:

  • Brightens dull skin
  • Improves fine lines
  • Improves the skin’s texture, and can be used to treat coarse skin
  • It’s suitable for most skin types
  • Non-invasive treatment
  • Reduces age spots
  • Reduces scars
  • Reduces pigmentation

Microdermabrasion is a very effective treatment to correct and restore the skin, but it can also play an important role in an ongoing skin care regimen to ensure the long-term health and vitality of the skin. It is safe for all skin types and colors. In addition to removing damaged skin, the procedure stimulates the growth of new, healthy cells and new collagen growth.

Who are the best candidates for Microdermabrasion

The best candidates for Microdermabrasion are those with the following characteristics:

  • Are relatively healthy
  • Has mild concerns about their complexion
  • Looking for a treatment with minimal downtime
  • Maintains positive and realistic expectations for the treatment results

You could be a great candidate for this treatment if you are looking to fix any of the following skin conditions:

  • Age spots
  • Clogged pores
  • Minor acne scars
  • Shallow wrinkles and lines
  • Skin texture issues
  • Sun damage
  • Uneven discoloration

What to expect on the day of Microdermabrasion

During the microdermabrasion treatment, a stream of very fine mineral crystals is blown across the skin’s surface to buff away or “exfoliate” the outermost layer of dead and damaged skin cells. Simultaneously, the exfoliated skin cells are then gently vacuumed away revealing younger, fresher skin. You may feel a mild scratching sensation during the removal process, as well as vibrations that many patients claim remind them of a massage.

The whole treatment takes about 30 minutes.

What’s the first Step?

If you are interested in getting Microdermabrasion in the Boston area, the first thing you will need to do is contact your local SkinHealth Centers and schedule a consultation. You will meet with a member of our aesthetic team and discuss what you are looking to achieve, ask any questions you may have, and receive an evaluation of your skin. After this consultation, your SkinHealth Center professional will develop your microdermabrasion program based on your unique needs. If you agree with the plan they have made, you will be able to get your treatment immediately afterward. If you would like to reschedule for any reason, our Patient Coordinator can help you pick a better day and time.

If you do plan on getting Lip Fillers the same day as your consultation, we strongly recommend that you avoid wearing lipstick or lip balm of any kind, as it will have to be removed before the injection can begin.

Microdermabrasion Recovery

You should have no downtime after your treatment and will be able to continue your daily routine. You should use a moisturizer or facial products to enhance and prolong the results. After your first treatment, you will see an immediate difference in your skin that will have a fresh glow and feel smoother and softer. Some patients may require an additional microdermabrasion session to achieve their desired appearance, but we will let you know if that is the issue. Otherwise, you can always schedule a maintenance appointment to maintain your current glow.

How Much Does It Cost?

The cost of Microdermabrasion in Boston is based on several factors, which does include the surface area that is being treated and what you’re getting the treatment for. The best way to find out how much this procedure will be for you is to come in for a consultation with a member of SkinHealth’s aesthetic team. After they evaluate your skin and find out your needs, a treatment plan will be created for you and our Patient Coordinator will be able to give you a price breakdown.
