Introduction to

Collagen is a protein your body needs to create the volume and tightness of your skin. Unfortunately, as you get older, you begin to produce less collagen, which causes your face to sag and allows for more wrinkles and fine lines to become evident. After countless research and the evolution of inciting collagen production, there is a fantastic, natural way to regain the fullness of your facial appearance. When you come into either SkinHealth Centers location, you can roll back the years and treat the appearance of fine lines and facial wrinkles with non-invasive Collagen Induction Therapy using Microneedling in Boston and Wellesley Hills, MA.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a form of Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) that is non-invasive and encourages collagen production in your body. As mentioned above, collagen is a protein our body produces that plays a vital role in the structure and functioning of the skin. To achieve this increased production, we use a Microneedling ‘Pen’ which is an FDA-approved medical-grade device used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin to naturally produce collagen and elastin.

This treatment is great for patients looking to reduce the appearance of the following conditions:

What to expect on the day of a Microneedling treatment

When you are ready for your Microneedling treatment, we will perform it on you in the comfort of our Medical Spa. After you make yourself comfortable on our reclining chair, the Aesthetician will clean your skin and apply a numbing ointment to make your experience a little more comfortable. This is done about 30 to 45 minutes before the treatment so the ointment has time to work.

Next, a handheld device is used to make hundreds of tiny puncture wounds on your skin using the tiny needles attached to the device. It will be moved gently across your skin to agitate and spark collagen production. You may feel a warming or scratching sensation when the needles start. It should be mostly tolerable throughout the treatment, but some patients find it uncomfortable when the needles are near bony areas like your cheekbones.

What’s the first Step?

The first step in getting Microneedling in Boston is to schedule your consultation with a certified SkinHealth physician. When you come in for this appointment, you will be able to show the areas that you’re looking to improve and ask any questions you may have. The physician will evaluate your skin and ask you questions about your medical history, which will require complete honesty. We are completely discreet, but the more clear you are about your history, the less chance there is for unnecessary risks. After they have the information needed, a treatment plan will be created for you. If you agree with the plan, you will be able to have your Microneedling performed immediately after, or if for any reason you’d like to reschedule, our Patient Coordinator will be able to help you pick the best date and time for you.

Microneedling recovery

After your treatment, you will be able to go about your day, but your face will likely be red and swollen, which can last up to five days. You can use an ice pack to help reduce the discomfort and minimize swelling. You should be able to wear makeup a day later, but you should avoid the sun as best as possible while your skin heals.

Once the initial healing is complete, most patients receive a ‘glow’ to their skin. Visible changes will continue to develop over the course of several weeks and can improve up to 6 months after the treatment as collagen production continues

Most patients generally receive a series of 2-3 treatments spaced about 6-8 weeks apart.

How much does Microneedling cost in Boston and Wellesley Hills, MA?

The cost of Microneedling in Boston and Wellesley Hills is based on several factors, including the size of the treatment area and the number of sessions you will need. After speaking with the Aesthetician, they can evaluate your skin and create your treatment plan, our Patient Coordinator will be able to give you a price breakdown of your full experience.
